Together, we impact lives in our community
Your dollars support programs for children and adults - from infants to senior citizens. They support programs that help people to live as well as possible, and programs that help people to die with dignity. They provide funding to make our hospital environment more comfortable and peaceful; opportunities for advanced training for staff; and the most up-to-date equipment to treat patients.

Rice Hospice care brings hope to help people live life as fully as possible offers dignity when there is not a cure, and surrounds famlies with love at one of life's most challenging times.
Many insurance policies provide basic hospice benefits such as nursing, social worker and home hospice aide care. Rice Hospice care is provided regardless of ability to pay.
Monetary gifts to Rice Hospice make care possible for patients without insurance. They also help bridge the gap between the actual cost of patient care and insurance reimbursement allowances.

In 2012, Rice began a redevelopment plan to improve the environment of care for long term care residents at Rice Care Center. A majority of rooms will be private, and contain the most up-to-date safety features for staff and residents. Rooms will be located in "neighborhoods" with separate entrances for privacy and convenience. Neighborhoods will have gathering spaces for social activities as well as a beautiful garden to enjoy outdoors.
What will the project cost?
The entire project will cost six million dollars. Rice Memorial Hospital will assume debt to complete this project which helps meet the demand for long-term care in the region.
Why do we have to raise funds?
Rice is a community hospital, owned by the City of Willmar. Rice does not receive tax support from the city. With the low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates for long-term care, philanthropic support will help reduce the amount of borrowed funds and associated expenses, making the project economically feasible. Philanthropic support in the amount of two million dollars will ensure the hospital maintains adequate capital to address all resident needs, as well as patient care needs, in the community.
