An Affiliate of Virginia Piper Cancer Institute
To achieve designation as a Virginia Piper Cancer Institute, affiliates must employ a consistent set of standards. These include multidisciplinary care conferences to discuss patient cases, cancer care coordination, on-site or access to genetic counseling services, and adherence to National Comprehensive Cancer Network evidence-based cancer care guidelines. Sites must also have the American College of Surgeons' Commission on CancerĀ® accreditation.
Research Opportunities for Patients
Rice Memorial Hospital and Willmar Regional Cancer Center (WRCC) are part of Metro- Minnesota Community Clinical Oncology (MMCCOP), which is a non-profit research program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. MMCCOP offers patients access to the newest therapy available for cancer treatment, symptom management, and cancer prevention. In addition, WRCC obtained the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group certification which allows our patients to participate in radiation studies offered by MMCCOP.
