| Love Your Life ~ Love Your Heart Luncheon & Style Show February 24, 2009 |
||
Cardiac Rehab hosted a wonderful hour of education, fun and style in honor of American Heart Month. Food and Nutrition Services at Rice served a heart healthy menu. Kandi Mall retailers provided a variety of styles for the fashion show - all in red, of course! Cardiac Rehab provided facts and information to bring awareness to heart health in women. Roxie Covert, RN, welcomed everyone to the event, "Be aware and have fun." While heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in America, heart disease is on the decline for men, but on the rise for women. "Take a moment to think about people you love," said Kellie Prentice, RN, "How many of the people in your life are women? How has cardiovascular disease affected those people you love? How often do you nag the men in your life to get a physical and take care of themselves? But, did you get your physical? Are you last in line? If you are a woman, you are at risk for heart disease. "How can you take care of others if you don't take care of yourself? Lead by example. Love your heart to save your heart." |
