The internships for Summer Health Care Interns and Summer Nursing Interns is from mid-June to mid-August. Internships in all three programs are paid positions. An application packet for either of these programs must be requested by November 15 for the following summer. To request an application packet, see below. Summer Health Care Internship The Summer Health Care Internship offers college students an overview of the services and operations of a regional referral health care organization. Students receive one or more work assignments depending on the needs of the organization and the student's college major, background and experience. Work may relate to:
In addition, students have the opportunity to observe a variety of medical procedures, patient care and support encounters. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education in a healthcare or related field. They must also be in good academic standing. Pharmacy Clinical Experience Rice Memorial Hospital Pharmacy Department offers both internship and externship programs for eligible pharmacy students. Students are offered externship rotations at Rice in general hospital practice and ambulatory care. Externships are available for pharmacy students during the entire year. The Summer Nursing Intern Program is an opportunity for nursing students (BSN, BAN), between their junior and senior years, to participate in a learning and work experience to provide the connection between education and real life practice.
