Education Student Expenses

Your formal education will include coursework at Rice Memorial Hospital and Ridgewater College. You will be enrolled at both institutions; therefore, application to both institutions is required. Consideration for transfer of previous college credit(s) is handled through Ridgewater College.

After completing general education and program requirements at Ridgewater College, you will be awarded an Associate in Science Degree. In addition, you will receive a certificate for your clinical and didactic training from Rice Memorial Hospital.

Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the cerification exam offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Passing this exam will recognize you nationally as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, RT(R).

 

The following expenses are for Rice Hospital only, and do not include tuition and any fees that would be incurred through attendance at Ridgewater College.

  • Registration: $20
  • RMH Tuition: $6,000 total
  • Textbooks: range from $300-400
  • Meals: meals are available at employee rates in the hospital cafeteria.
  • Housing: student housing is the responsibility of the student.
  • Financial Aid: available through Ridgewater College.
Admission Accreditation

Candidates for admission must be high school graduates or have their GED. The field is open to both men and women. Experience has shown that high school or college mathematics and science courses, especially physics, chemistry and biology, are helpful in preparation for a career as an RT.

At Rice Memorial Hospital, class for new students begins on or about August 15 of each year. The application deadline is November 30 for the class beginning the following August.

Six students per year are accepted into the program. The application and selection procedure are as follows:

1. Minimum High School GPA of 2.5 required. College GPA will be used if 12 or more college courses have been taken, which must also be a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

2. ACT test results are required.

3. Official high school transcript or GED.

4. College transcripts if college courses have been taken.

5. Include name and addresses of two personal/employment references (non-relatives).

6. Include $20.00 application processing fee.

7. Complete our application, available from this website or from the program office, or, complete the standard Minnesota College Admissions Form (available at your high school). As the name of the institution, use Rice Memorial Hospital.

9. Your application will be processed and reviewed by our selection committee. The committee will arrange interviews and make the final student selections.

To become an RT(R), you must attend an accredited radiologic technology program approved either by the Joint Review Committee of Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or by regional accreditation through a college or university. There are over 600 programs approved by the JRCERT that are operated by universities, colleges and hospitals, including the program at Rice Memorial Hospital (RMH).
The School of Radiologic Technology program will come to an end in 2012.

Graduation Requirements
