Corby Newman has been the official starter of the Foot Lake 4 all 15 years that Rice Hospital has sponsored the race. The origins of this race began years before when Corby, along with his wife and mother-in-law, began holding a race event around Foot Lake every year during the original Willmar Fests celebration known as Kaffe Fest. Several different organizations have sponsored the event throughout the years until 1993 when there was no race. Rice Memorial Hospital began sponsoring the Foot Lake 4 Walk / Run in 1994 and has done so annual for the past 15 years. |
