Respect Your Health

The following is a list of procedures available for your healthy check-up.

This test uses ultrasound waves to determine plaque build up. In this procedure, a wand-like devise sends high-frequency waves into your neck. The sound waves pass through tissue and then return, creating on-screen images that delineate any narrowing or clotting in your arteries. Carotid ultrasound can depict plaque that narrows the artery and may limit the free flow of blood to the brain.

No special preparation is needed for carotid ultrasound. Wear a loose-fitting, open necked shirt or blouse for the exam. You will be asked to remove any jewelry or other objects from around your neck.

Cost: $50

This procedure uses ultrasound waves to detect any enlargements or aneurysms (a bulge in the wall of a blood vessel) in the abdomen. Images of internal organs are obtained by sending high-frequency sound waves into the body. The reflected sound waves' echoes are recorded and displayed as a visual image.

You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for your ultrasound exam.

Cost: $50

This procedure determines your cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and calculated LDL cholesterol levels.
