Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic
Rice Rehab offers a one-day MS Clinic for persons who have received a medical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. The clinic provides a complete evaluation of an individual's ability to complete tasks of daily living and offers resources and solutions that can help maintain and improve quality of life.
The individual's day will involve a complete and thorough assessment relating to the following areas which are described in detail below:
- occupational therapy
- physical therapy
- speech therapy
- social services
- pharmacy
- food and nutrition
- nursing
- massage therapy
Family and friends are welcome to attend the clinic with the individual. Morning snack and lunch are provided.
Occupational Therapy Assessment
- multiple sclerosis functional composite (MSFC)
- sensation
- coordination
- tremor
- reciprocal motional upper extremities
- hand writing
- hand prehensions and isolated finger control
- grip strength
- activities of daily living tasks
- adaptive equipment needs
- cognitive skills
- energy conservation
Physical Therapy Assessment

- flexibility - neck and shoulder range of motion, ankle motion
- general mobility, including getting in and out of bed or chair
