Congratulations and welcome to Suite Beginnings at Women and Children's Care

Every year, more than 800 newborns enter the world at Rice, which means the professional nursing staff have experience and training to meet the needs of you and your baby. We do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable and free of stress as possible.

Suite Beginnings offers you and your baby a caring and homelike atmosphere in a safe, professional hospital setting.

When you choose to have your baby in one of our eight birthing suites, you'll find them warmly decorated with enough space for you and your family through labor, birth, and the post-birth stay.

You decide who can be at the birth of your baby, whether it's the father, your parents, brothers and sisters, or anyone else who is important to you.

A pull-out couch is in your room for the convenience of your family. We have a family-centered visiting policy, which means your family is welcome at any time you choose to have visitors, instead of during set visiting hours.

You'll find many of those little extras that make your stay with us so special. For instance, you receive a complementary gift bag filled with goodies.

You see your baby as often as you wish - your new baby stays in your room with you. If you would like to rest or enjoy a whirlpool bath, your baby can visit the nursery. A special security program is in place to ensure a safe return to you when you're ready.
