Rice Memorial Hospital offers a Summer Health Care Internship from mid-June to mid-August.

Here's what one student had to say about her
experience at Rice.keyboard

My internship experience at Rice Hospital went above and beyond my expectations. It was a positive experience, from my very first interactions via e-mail and telephone to my actual experiences in the hospital.

The staff at Rice were very accommodating and enhanced my learning experience in a very positive way. Everyone at Rice Hospital was very welcoming and friendly. Although I was only a student, they made me feel as though my opinion and knowledge was very valuable to the care of their patients.

The staff on the inpatient floor made me feel comfortable and treated me as a colleague rather than "just a student." My supervisor had decades of experiences in the mental health setting and was very knowledgeable in therapeutic use of self and in how to appropriately deal with each of the clients.

In the brief amount of time that patients are generally in the unit, my supervisor managed to cover a variety of areas that were beneficial for the patients' recovery. There is a diverse population of patients in the unit at any given time which made my experience much more beneficial.

My supervisor was helpful in the feedback she gave me and the variety of knowledge that she shared. She even extended the invitation for me to reach her again for any advice or help.

Overall, my experience at Rice was very positive and I was sad when my internship ended. I would highly recommend Rice Hospital to all students because it is a great atmosphere to learn in.
