Internships for college students
Rice Memorial Hospital is dedicated to the education of students entering healthcare fields. Rice is licensed for 136 and serves communities in a 14-county area of West Central and Southwest Minnesota.
There are 32 medical specialties represented in our area. Professional staff at Rice Hospital work together and support each other in a collaborate practice to provide high quality patient care.
This program runs from mid-June to mid-August. Interns will be scheduled 64 hours per two-week pay period. Interns will work the same hours as their preceptor (8-hour or 12-hour shifts), including rotating shifts and weekends.
What is the Summer Nursing Student Internship?
The Summer Nursing Intern Program is an opportunity for nursing students (BSN, BAN), between their junior and senior years, to participate in a learning and work experience to provide the connection between education and real-life practice.
Under the direction of an RN preceptor, interns further their understanding of the practice of professional nursing. Opportunities are available in a variety of areas at Rice including:
- Adult Health Care
- ICCU / ER
- Peri-Operative Services (ACD, OR, PACU)
- Float Pool
- Women and Children's Care (includes OB)
In addition, students have the opportunity to observe in other areas for several shifts toward the end of the internship.
