Strategic Orthopedics

For neck, back, TMJ, and headache pain

Strategic Orthopedics is a form of evaluation and treatment for the entire spine that uses the body's own natural motions to reduce pain over time. It allows the patient the power to control pain at home and be actively involved in the treatment process. It can be used for upper, middle, and low back pain, neck pain, as well as headaches and migraines.

What happens during a strategic orthopedic therapy session?

At the initial evaluation, the physical therapist will:

  • Gather information about your pain
  • Ask questions about daily activities that are affected by pain
  • Have you perform a set of movements while monitoring the pain
  • Give you a program of exercises to relieve pain on your own

Follow up therapy sessions will include:

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of pain relieving exercises
  • Modification of posture
  • Modification of work and home environments

Other treatments may include:

  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical stimulation
  • Manual therapy
  • Traction
  • Taping
  • Strengthening exercises
