Robotic-assisted surgery, or advanced laparoscopy, utilizes a 3D high definition vision system, special instruments, and computer software that allows the surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity, and control.
The system uses advanced instruments that bend and rotate similar to the movements of the human wrist, allowing surgeons to make small, precise incisions that are much smaller than those made during open surgery. In studies, this minimally invasive technique has shown to allow for faster recoveries, fewer complications, and shorter hospital stays as compared to open surgery.
